When the caste census will start in Bihar from April 15, 17 questions will be asked. The code for 15 of these questions is fixed. From religion-caste to education-earning there is also a code. This code is useful for the census workers, but it is interesting that in this census there is also a code for ‘non-religion’. Many majority castes have a three-digit code, while minority communities have a one- or two-digit code. The caste of first and second number codes are Agariya and Aghori. Who knows, you may have heard the name of these words in the form of castes! And yes, there is a code for ‘caste’ too. Meaning, if your caste is not there or even the government does not know the name of your caste before then there is a provision of separate code for that.
Eight code for religion, nine code for family
Hinduism has got the code 1 in the caste census. After this, the number of Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism is up to six respectively. Apart from this, if any other religion is given then the population worker will write code 7 and if religion is not mentioned then code 08 will be written. Similarly, there is a separate code for the members of the family. The code for head of household is 1, for husband-wife 02, for daughter-son 03, for granddaughter, granddaughter, grandson, grandson 04, for parent 05, for brother-sister 06, grandmother, grandmother Or 08 for Grandfather, Nanan and 09 for mother-in-law and father-in-law. According to the head of the family, codes will be given to the rest of the family members living in that house.
